Turnabout: Phill Kline fights for his privacy | Midwest Voices - Via Midwest Voices / Kansas City Star editorial page:

In a Wichita courtroom, attorneys for abortion doctor George Tiller are requesting access to portions of Phill Kline's private diary.

Kline, of course, is the former Kansas attorney general whose request for the medical files of some abortion patients touched off a prolonged legal battle.

Some things nobody wants to turn over to the lawyers. One of those things is a medical file with gynecological information. Another is your diary.

Tiller's attorneys say the diary may give clues as to Kline's motivation for filing charges.

To recap (stay with me, it gets interesting): Kline, in his final days as Kansas attorney general, charged Tiller with 30 misdemeanor offenses concerning accepting questionable mental health diagnoses and violating reporting requirements. A judge in Sedgwick County, Kan., where Tiller's clinic is located, threw out the charges on jurisdictional grounds.

Paul Morrison, who took over as attorney general, said Kline's charges were baseless. But he filed new charges, charging that Tiller had an improper financial relationship with a doctor who provided second opinions.

Speaking of improper relationships, Morrison turned out to be having an affair with one of Kline's staffers, who used to be one of Morrison's staffers. (I said it gets interesting.)

Tiller's attorneys have subpoenaed the staffer, Linda Carter, and Morrison, in an attempt to prove that Carter persuaded Morrison to file charges against Tiller.

All in all, it's quite a trial going on in Wichita. But, getting back to the point of this post, a lot of people have to be enjoying the thought of Kline fighting to keep from turning private information over to a court.
